Esgob ein heneidiau ni!
Pan nesao'r creulon flaidd,
I ddinistrio'r gorlan glyd -
Llarpio'r ŵyn,
a tharfu'r praidd -
Gwarchod ni rhag pob rhyw bla,
Gwylia drosom, Fugail da.
Pan fo'r cyflog-was yn ffoi,
Gydag aur yn llanw'i fryd,
Pan na fyddo yno mwy
Wyliwr dros y gorlan glyd,
Saf dy hunan yn y ddôr,
Cadw'r praidd, O Arglwydd Iôr.
Trwy y coelbren fwriawyd gynt
Ti ddewisaist addas un
Yn lle Iwdas, wedi'r brad,
Aethai hwnt i'w le ei hun;
Yn ein helbul, yn ddi-baid,
Aros di yn fur o'n plaid.
Pan fo'r saint yn cael eu lle
Yng ngorymdaith on y nef,
A Mathïas yn eu plith,
Caffer ninnau gydag ef,
Lle cawn aros, ryfedd fraint,
Yn dy wyddfod gyda'r saint.

Tonau [77.77.77]: |
Bishop of our souls!
When the cruel wolf approaches,
To destroy the secure sheepfold -
To maul the lambs,
and disturb the flock -
Guard us from every kind of plague,
Watch over us, good Shepherd.
When the hireling flees,
With gold flooding his mind,
Where there are no longer
Watchers over the secure sheepfold,
Stand thyself in the door,
Save the flock, O Sovereign Lord.
Through the lot once cast
Thou didst choose a suitable one
In place of Judas, after the betrayal,
Who went out to his own place;
In our trouble, unceasingly,
Stay thou as a wall on our side.
When the saints get their place
In the cheerful procession of heaven,
With Matthias among them,
We also may be found with him,
Where we may stay, a wonderful privilege,
In thy presence with the saints.

Bishop of the souls of men,
When the foeman's step is nigh,
When the wolf lays wait by night
For the lambs
continually,
Watch, O Lord, about us keep,
Guard us, Shepherd of the sheep.
When the hireling flees away,
Caring only for his gold,
And the gate unguarded stands
At the entrance to the fold,
Stand, O Lord, Thy flock before
Thou the guardian, Thou the door.
Lord, whose guiding finger ruled
In the casting of the lot,
That Thy Church might fill the throne
Of the lost Iscariot,
In our trouble ever thus
Stand, good Master, nigh to us.
When the saints their order take
In the New Jerusalem,
And Matthias stands elect,
Give us part and lot with him,
Where in Thine own dwelling place
We may witness face to face.
